ז Zayin (7)

Tsivan (Hebrew: Sivan; from Akkadian : simānu, meaning "Season; time") is May through June, at the end of spring, on the Gregorian calendar. Sivan is the third month of the Hebrew calendar. It begins around the third week of May towards the end of the spring season.

In 2 Enoch, Tsivan is described as the month (or constellation) that when it goes close to the earth, "then the earth is glad and makes grow its fruits,"[1]

Judaism[]

  • 1 Sivan, 2105 BCE: According to Rashi , the Flood Waters Recede. 150 days after the rains stopped in the Great Flood, the raging waters which covered the entire earth calmed down at the rate of one cubit every four days (Genesis 8:3; Rashi).

Kabbalah[]

  • In Sivan, according to the Book of Formation (Sefer Yetzirah ), God descended on Mt. Sinai. It represents the Hebrew letter: Zayin (ז). Its numerical mystic value is 7. The values of 3 and 7 are considered by the sages as “beloved.”

Observation[]

The combination of Sivan being the third (3) month with its mystic value (7) equals the tenth (10th) value. Compare the value 10 with God residing in the tenth heaven.

Astrology[]

  • Sivan corresponds with the third Babylonian month Araḫ Simanu , which is considered during the zodiacal period of Gemini .
